Fruits We Feed And Those We Don't, To Siberian Husky Dogs In India - The DogFather

The DogFather runs the best dog hostel in India. At The DogFather dog hostel, we invest effort in the careful selection of what type of food we feed to dogs, and what type we do not.

Our reason for being selective in foods we feed to dog entrusted with us lies in the fact that not all foods are okay and appropriate for the health and development of these pets.

At The DogFather, we do feed pets fruits, but not all types of fruit.

In this article, we'll like to give the public an idea of the type of fruits we feed to pets in our dog hostel, as well as those we do not.

In addition, we'll state at least one reason why we do or do not feed a fruit. Here we go.

Fruits We May Feed To Pets

  1. Apple

Apple is a very popular fruit among we humans, and interestingly it is one of the fruits we may feed to a dog entrusted with us.

Apple may be fed to a pet as it is an excellent source of vitamin A and vitamin C. Apple is also an excellent source fibre.

Apple is okay to be fed to adult dogs as it is low in protein and fat. However, before we feed this fruit to any pet, we ensure that we remove the apple seeds and its core. If a pet owner stipulates that this fruit shouldn't be fed to their dog, it wouldn't.

  1. Banana

Monkies and humans are not the only mammals that love bananas. Dogs are also great lovers of this fruit and since it isn't harmful to them, we make it a fruit we may feed to pets in our hostel.

Apart from being a favourite of dogs, this fruit also has nutritional value. Banana is a great source of vitamins, potassium, copper, biotin and fibre. It has cholesterol and sodium, but in small quantities.

As it can be seen, banana is a good fruit for dogs, but shouldn't be fed to them in excess. Knowing this, The DogFather may feed banana to a pet entrusted with us, but never are we going to feed this fruit in excess.

If a pet owner stipulates that this fruit shouldn't be fed to their dog, it wouldn't.

  1. Blueberry

Is blueberry okay to be fed to dogs, and do they like it? Yes, it is safe to feed a dog blueberry and dogs are known to love the fruit. This fruit is a good source of antioxidant.

Antioxidants, in this context, are organic chemicals that can help prevent the damage of cells. Apart from being a source of antioxidants, blueberry is also a source of fibre and phytochemicals.

If a pet owner stipulates that this fruit shouldn't be fed to their dog, it wouldn't.

  1. Brussel Sprout

Brussel Sprout is just another fruit we may feed to a dog boarded at The DogFtaher hostel. Just like blueberry, this fruit is high in antioxidants.

In addition to being high in antioxidants, the fruit has a lot of good nutrients.

Brussel Sprouts can become a problem for dogs when fed in excess to them; as a result, Brussel Sprouts is not often fed to pets in our hostel.

It is only fed once in a while. If a pet owner stipulates that this fruit shouldn't be fed to their dog, it wouldn't.

      5.Carrot

Carrot is a great fruit that can be eaten by a dog. The fruit is safe for a dog to take in large quantity, and this fruit is very rich.

It is very rich in fibre and beta-carotenes.

Beta-carotenes, as used in this context, refer to organic substances that produce vitamin. Apart from the fact that carrot has great nutritional value, crunching of the fruit is great and enjoyable for dogs.

In conclusion, The DogFather may feed carrot to a dog boarding in our dog hostel. If a pet owner stipulates that this fruit shouldn't be fed to their dog, it wouldn't.

Fruits We Don't Feed To Pets

  1. Asparagus

First on our list of fruits we do not feed to dogs is asparagus. We refuse to feed this fruit to dogs not because it is bad for their health. Our reason for excluding from the list of fruits we feed to them, is that asparagus is too tough for dogs, when not cooked.

However, when it is cooked for dog, the fruit loses a very significant percentage of its nutritional value, rending it quiet nutritionally useless. If we need to feed a veggie to these pets, we look for some other veggies.

  1. Avocado

It might be quite surprising to see that we do not feed avocados to pets boarding in our dog hostel. Although avocado is safe for human to eat, it is not safe for dogs to eat, hence avocado is shouldn't be fed to a dog.

After stating that this fruit is not safe for dogs to eat, its time to give the reason. Avocado's pit, skin, leaves and flesh, all contain persin. Persin is what nullifies the eating of avocados, by dogs. This substance, persin, causes vomiting and diarrhoea, in dogs.

Although, the persin content of the fleshy part of this fruit doesn't contain as much persin as in the pit, skin, and leaves, it is however still excessive for the body system of a dog to handle.

  1. Cherry

Cherry is another fruit loved by we humans, but this fruit is bad for dogs. Cherry is bad for dogs as it is like a poison to these animals. Only the fleshy part that surrounds the seeds is okay, but it is not advisable to be fed to a dog.

Giving details, Cherry has cyanide. Cyanide is poisonous substance as it disrupts cellular oxygen transport. By disrupting cellular oxygen transport, the blood cells of the dog would not be able to get enough oxygen. As it can be seen, cherry is a no-go area for dogs, hence The DogFather stays away from this fruit.
